Repairing the Cracks: Healing and Wholeness

Friday mornings:
January 24, 31 and February 7, 2020 - 9:15 to 10:30 am.
Dr. Debra Linesch
Class limit: 15 people.

Based on the Japanese process of Kintsugi, repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, this 3-part workshop focusses on the processes of relief (breaking) and solace (restoring). The project includes text study, controlled breakage and intentional repair. No previous study or art experience is required.

Debra Linesch, Ph.D. is a tenured professor at Loyola Marymount University where she has expanded art psychotherapy theory and practices into an established graduate program. She has been a TIOH congregant since 1993 and has moved even deeper into the community since the tragic death of her son Nico Linesch (Z"L) in January of 2017. She is interested in the potential of the creative process to support Jewish mourning practices.
